Watched this with mom. Probably my least favorite ghibli movie I’ve watched, but that’s not a knock because they’re all fabulous movies. Through the whimsical animation style, lighthearted story telling, and young pair of protagonists, the film manages to capture the wonder and optimism we all had as kids. Watched this on the plane home from Madrid (along with Phineas and ferb: Candace against the universe (BANGER)). Beautiful, beautiful movie, non-linear storytelling is confusing at first but so satisfying. Flawless performance from Jim Carrey, I was so pleasantly surprised to see him thrive outside of his normal comedic/funny faces roles. Fascinating commentary on love and loss, and whether the pain in our past is better to forget or whether it’s essential for who we are today. Joel and Clem…
Watched w dad - first Jackie Chan film I’ve seen. Super cool choreography, endless fight scenes that must have taken ages to practice and had the beauty and agility of a dance/gymnastics routine. Beyond that, though, the plot is pretty nonexistent and is more of a martial arts display than a cohesive movie
