This movie had some makings of being great—a decent lead actor and a pretty unique story. Somehow managed to make a movie about a fly into a “not her body and not her choice” movie, which is kind of insane in theory. I wish they had leaned into the concept more and done some more mutant versions of animals before ultimately the scientist goes mad and thinks he needs to better himself for science.

    I can see where a lot…

It was okay for what it was, truly just felt like a repeat of other similar movies like Girls Trip. I appreciate telling stories about disenfranchised groups in America, and the struggles of being an unrepresented part of American media, but I just think the movie felt rushed and boring. It definitely had some comedic value and moments of fun. Just probably wouldn’t watch it again

I just feel the need to reiterate the point that provocative =/= good. Showing women in sexual situations doesn’t lead to it being a feminist piece of art or actually enacting meaningful societal changes to respect sex workers as real professionals with skill and prose. I feel like there’s this ultra-tempting trope for Hollywood to be provocative about a female character’s sexuality without actually having it add anything other than objectifying the character. Sexual violence and exploitation doesn’t benefit anyone

It had a few chuckle moments and general plot was alright

A sweet and introspective look on the childhoods of some millennials/gen-z and how different our lives compare today. The problems of the past seem so distant and unique to the era now. Beating hearts after racey IM’s, siblings leaving the nest, and other complexities of maturing into a teenager were spot on for this film. I loved the rawness of family drama, personal lessons, and teenage angst. The film did a great job at giving the audience a sense of connection to the characters and relation to the time period.
