Surprisingly excellent. I went in with moderate expectations, and it exceeded those handily. Highlights: Margot Robbie, America Ferrara, Ryan Gosling, Michael Cera. But nothing beats Greta Gerwig’s script.
Bonus: Seeing it with my 21-year-old daughter who I can still picture playing with Barbie dolls.
What did I just watch? Was it a dark comedy, drama, or suspense? No clue. I came for Tina Fey and stayed for Tina Fey, but the plot was so clunky it was painful to watch.
Comfort movie. Go back to it over and over. Nora Ephron is a gem. Come for the dialogue. Stay for Meg Ryan’s evolving hairdo through the same movie.
