there’s a bit toward the end where borden is talking to fallon in prison where i was like “this moment doesn’t have the emotional weight that it could have, the film hasn’t developed fallon and his relationship with borden the way it has cutter and angier”. i see now why. they didn’t. do that

it’s like. given the extent of fucking apeshit balls to the wall scale of world and spectacle and movement throughout executed with such confidence and control in this franchise, you’d think george miller’s forays into animation (the film medium whose whole raison d’etre is holistic visual scale unimpeded by the constraints of live action) would be like. absolutely otherworldly. right. so what do you mean the only animated films he’s made are happy feet. and happy feet 2.
