i'd like to say i'm logging and giving this 5 stars in place of the show (letterboxd still doesn't have it, unfortunately!), but i'm not.
this is essentially the perfect behind-the-scenes docuseries, and the perfect companion piece to arcane. if you even vaguely enjoyed arcane, watch this. and then rewatch arcane. and give it the 5 stars it deserves.
time to prove them all wrong, once again
when they did that insane long take of armie hammer playing chess against himself while alicia vikander danced in the background with those sunglasses on i think that was the most sold i've ever been on a movie and it was only like 30 minutes in
overall, an unexpected delight
(small note before my main thoughts here, in the first scene that godzilla shows up in i genuinely thought it was a simulation, a fake, a dream sequence, or any possible alternative to that being how they unironically portrayed godzilla here. the soullessness was palpable)
irrationally mad at this movie because after godzilla (2014) and godzilla: king of the monsters everyone complained about too much human drama and not enough monster fighting, then they finally got the movie they wanted and actually liked it
obviously horrible movie that feels like it was simultaneously produced by both warner bros executives and 8yos playing with action figures
