Dry Summer 1963
a summer without water and women
Dry Summer is a great depiction of the life in countryside and its conditions without water and women. It is one of the first movies that represent social realism in Turkey. Metin Erksan also embodies a realistic system critisism of private property- feudalty-.
Osman Ağa's greed to rule the water is as strong as his desire to rule his brother's wife. We see how patriarchy captures the nature and morality of a society on women.
It is sad to know that animals were abused and killed during the movie shooting.
