  No white savior this time. a sympathetic antagonist. engaging female characters who are actually distinguishable and varying. a main character who feels real and isn't full of witty quips and one liners, and there isn't a giant beam in the sky anywhere in this film.   You know when you're in college and your one theater major friend asks you to watch their weird experimental play, but then that play turns into a snuff film? That's pretty much Mother! in a nutshell, or more appropriately in a dilapidated house.
