This is a retroactive review because I just remembered how awful this film was so buckle the fuck up.
Lena Waithe wanted this film to have a message that was rooted in realism, but it was quite the opposite in execution. For a film with such high stakes involving two people on the run, the titular Queen & Slim lacked any sense of urgency. I’m sure we all remember the juxtaposition of the sex scene and the kid shooting the cop. Hilariously…
