  i feel crazy for liking the original silent film better. i wish herzog had like either called the  movie dracula or kept the nosferatu copyright circumventing character names. i do not think it would be accurate to call this a horror film.  very little about it evokes fear or even tension. the visuals and especially the soundtrack are very fanciful, klaus kinski’s count is a silly old queen [affectionate], and i found it impossible not to giggle at jonathan harker’s…

  read the book and am convinced that cronenberg is the only dude to adapt books to film well. incensed that the james/vaughan sex scene was neutered bc of the homophobia and fear of drug use but it’s crazy how many of the details from the book the actors managed to pack into what few shots they were allowed.
