Inherent Vice 2014
Not a lot that can do it like him -- haven't seen many movies that made me feel as chemically adjusted as this one. PTA really captures something special here, something that's hard to pin down but really something else.
As a viewer, sober or not it makes you feel like you're bathing in the second-hand smoke at that one friend's college apartment bathroom while trying to digest the plotline to Cloud Atlas. Haven't seen it anyway, but you get the idea. Or maybe not. Whatever. Long story short I wish my dentist's office was like that.

Every once in a while, I watch a movie that slaps me in the face and reminds me what it’s all about.
Honestly, much of what’s depicted in Aftersun feels relatable, like a memory I’ve lived before, so I am a bit biased, but I think everybody has something to gain from this work. Weaving together two distant yet intertwined perspectives, this flick will make you reflect on yourself, your bonds with your family, your future. Insightful stuff, I know.…
