This movie has zero fat. Great performances, great plot, great shots. A mix between a coming of age, a grievance and a political story.

Cuaron has greet affection for Mexico and what it “should” be. The same can be said for “Rome”. You also see a constant presence of the army and oppression throughout the movie, never stopping…

One of the best movies I’ve seen that I wouldn’t recommend to everybody. This is an epic thriller packed with tension from the first minute.

First half of the movie is to get to know the characters, trying to understand the relationship between the couple and what happened in Amy’s past in that town. Second half is all out psychological and physical violence and somehow it’s beautifully made.

If you like provocative and psychological thrillers this is an all time epic, if not then maybe this will not be your cup of tea.

Paul Newman carries the movie, a great delivery of broken man trying to fight the system that broke him. Not sure about that ending though, although poetic, not sure how plausible it is.
