What’s intriguing about 'Kantil' is that you have to watch it without any promotional material or even a synopsis revealing what is really all about. Coming into the cinema, i started to grasp that this is going to be a community film due to its numerous subplots, consistent millieu and its strong world-building, still making it easy to follow. Everything about Bona speaks to the culture of the community here in the Philippines. It may not have been the perfect embodiment for a perfect relationship, but Nora Aunor truly narrates the emotions needed in every scene.
I watched it for the first time and am grateful that I was able to see the 4k restoration of such an absolute film. Bona's obsession with Gardo truly speaks to what a lot of us are going through today
