    Coralie Fargeat’s Revenge (2017) resonated more with my preferences—revenge motif, better violence, oozes more style, superior sets and locations, better looking blood, less grandiose but more effective gore, and it hits super hard because you don’t expect any of what happens at any given moment. I recall being disappointed that it was Fargeat’s only movie at the time, and I do feel like she went into the right direction with The Substance.     A bloated narrative chaos of sorts. At least 20 minutes needed to stay at the cutting floor. It doesn’t help Bong’s case that he already made not one, but two similar flicks (you could even argue—three). Pattison is the best thing about the movie and it’s worth watching solely for his acting chops. 

    Bong is most likely never coming close to surpassing Memories of Murder or Parasite, but I do hope he goes into another direction after this one and tries something wholly new.

    Another CGI-fest by DCU where every scene where the characters are talking is interrupted by out-of-nowhere explosion, man even Transformers don’t do that (shout-out to Michael Bay). I’m not even mad, at some point it made me laugh. I have no idea how big the budget for this movie was but seeing the cast and special effect, especially in the third act, I’m thinking...enormous.

    The plot is whatever, typical, predictable from the start, film looks good (not my type of…
