  a mishmash of bong joonho’s usual thematic fare that never quite manages to really settle and decide on what it wants to say. yes, identity; yes, capitalism: yes, animal rights, even! but does the film really manage to do anything besides nod to each of these issues a few times? doubtful. all the performances are very good, the production feels exciting and fresh, but to me it seems fairly apparent that bjh is trying to figure out what the hell…

  approximately 100 scenes in a row of timothee playing a folk song and some other character who’s probably already heard his work at this point in the film stopping and staring and then nodding sagely for the umpteenth time. overall wish this had been more interesting so my bf would’ve been able to enjoy it more <3
