i’m FLOORED by sean baker with this one. as someone who was pretty disappointed by red rocket, seeing previews of anora throughout the summer felt like a long exhale. so i’d say this was definitely one of my most anticipated movies this year, and it somehow exceeded expectations. i mean that man tells stories with a richness and an authenticity that is hypnotic. i laughed so fucking much, maybe more than i have in a theater EVER. and then sobbed at the end. that’s the sweet spot.
