The Royal Tenenbaums 2001
As my introduction to Wes Anderson, the opening sequence here could not have more perfectly captured the whimsy and emotion this movie holds. The wonderful characters are the obvious highlight, all with their individual humor and development, but what they form together really shines. Every scene fully saturated, music filling every inch of empty space, really giving weight to otherwise lighthearted moments. I could go on and on, the color palettes, the way each shot is packed with quirky detail and character, it all makes for something really special.
