if i ever get dementia and forget who i am, show me this movie, the wiz, and the princess bride
morbidly fascinating documentary on mental illness in the context of crime (or vice versa?). i really liked how fairly mental illness and the mental health system was portrayed (but maybe that's just because it's in canada and things are better there?). the film took a pretty unbiased stance on the whole situation. surprised but delighted that many intimate scenes were able to be recorded for the film, including those within the psych ward.
this was such a painful but well made film
honestly i'm new to documentaries that aren't, like, here is a bird soaring over Nature, and this hit so hard
like i'm astounded that the filmmaker got such an intense narrative not knowing it would happen when they started?? is that normal for documentaries??
at the same time it feels a little exploitative to...enjoy this film? i'll be thinking about this for a while
