Much better than expected. The kids were incredible, and very lovable characters (especially Finn Wolfhard and Jaeden Lieberher). Enjoyed the layer of humour added. However, I did feel as if there were too many cheap jumpscares, and could've done the film justice if they used suspense and buildup to scare the audience.
Kathy Bates’ incredible performance is unmatched in this psychological thriller. Her pure and raw emotion will keep you anxious and terrified, yet somehow captivating, leaving you begging for more. The soundtrack plays a major part in all of this — especially in the infamous “sledgehammer scene”, making the watcher most uneasy at the climax of the film. This gripping tale will bring you agony and torment in its unadulterated form.
