When I left the cinema, I thought I should’ve expected less because I believed it was going to be a feminist masterpiece. Then I realised, actually no, female centric films don’t have to be groundbreaking gender equality pieces, they can just be fun and just for girls. Men can be everything, they can have a dramatic long biopic war film and funny slapstick films. The last few years have shown female centric films as message pieces and deep cryptic gender-focused heavyweights. The second time I saw it, i cried at all the same bits, and appreciated it a whole lot more. Love Barbie so much
