  John Sturges does a mixup of some spaghetti, some revisionistic, and some classic western, which ends up being pretty decent, but not that much more. Jason Robards is plenty fantastic as Doc Holiday.

  There are performances here that are pure gold. Any scene involving Big shouty executive Rip Torn, grade A scumbag Bradley Whitford, grade A scumbag Stephen Root, and muthafuckin CCH Pounder is worth taking a least a look at. Then there’s just a bunch of other stuff that you wish should work (japanese terminator, Robocop riding the pimpmobile), but never really goes anywhere. And Pg-13? Why? Who? How… Where?

  The kind of science fiction where you keep your feet on the goshdern ground for most of the time. Could be seen as a sort of predecessor to Arrival, maybe even Interstellar. Good stuff. James Woods plays somehow, just somehow, a massive asshole incredibly well.
