Barbie 2023
Well I watched this when it came out but I just remembered how much I fucking hated it so I had to come back and rate this 0.5 stars. The set looked cheap as hell first of all and I guess that was the point but idk it was hard on the eyes. Let’s not get started on the entire storyline with Ken crashing out because Barbie rejected him and then in the end Barbie ends up apologising to him?!…

This movie was just gorgeous. I’m glad it didn’t romanticise the harsh reality of poverty and showed how it can strain so many areas of your life. Jian qing’s father ageing and battling loneliness as fewer people came over to visit every new years was the most heartbreaking part of the movie. I loved the actors so much and the chemistry between them was so good and so real.

one star and that’s only because of how pretty the scenery was. had decent expectations bc all these tiktok comments said this movie changed their lives but i couldn’t think of anything more cliché and underwhelming… couldn’t really get behind the main couple with the age gap and why are women always compromised in these movies to make gay men happy? let’s not get started on the fake deep discussions about classical musicians it felt like reading a fanfic only cringier because you have to hear them say it.
