Unbreakable 2000
Shot for shot this is brilliance. Every frame is striking. I love how Shamylan let’s each scene breathe and build in its own time, making the film incredibly atmospheric. The ending might not be particularly shocking on paper, but the fact that the film is so immersive results in it packing a huge punch.

I almost love it and am slightly frustrated as I feel the story has masterpiece potential which it doesn’t quite reach due to a combination of weak dialogue in key moments some poor plot decisions. It is still a very good thriller. Mcavoy’s complete commitment to an extremely difficult role makes for a performance that is immediately a favourite of mine. Anya Taylor Joy is also fantastic. The concept is a home run and it’s gripping for its entire runtime.…
