Only major flaw is albert switching sides on fernand so quickly like bro what. Otherwise this is a fantastic movie but to be fair I haven’t read the book so not sure how it compares

    Bfs rating: 4

None of these actors seemed like they should’ve been in the same movie. Vince Vaughn, Hugo weaving, the guy from avatar. Very random assembly of people that I can’t take seriously together. I think the second half was better than the first even though it got very violent very fast. I can appreciate this being a true story and an emotional watch but don’t think I’ll need to repeat it.

Here’s all the things I hate:
    - I hate Colleen Hoover
    - I hate how the book (and movie) was marketed as a romantic story when it very much is not
    - I hate that because of said marketing, many people with trauma will go into this movie not knowing it may trigger them
    - I hate Blake Lively’s constant lip bite

Most of all, I hate myself for giving this 4 stars. I hate that they played Ethel Cain and it WORKED. It was beautiful. And I hate that.

I hate when a movie takes a woman who doesn’t want kids and turns her into a mother after she falls in love. I think the child was necessary to the emotional aspect of the story so I understand why they did it but it still irks me. This was good, but I think only the first time around. Not sure it would affect me that much on a rewatch just because of the pacing and how it kept everything a little bit mysterious. Also I can’t hear the name Tobias without thinking about arrested development.
