First, the good: The backstory here is cool, with Uenishi moving from doing a fan-made Godzilla animated video to making this officially sponsored one to actually working on Godzilla models for the studio.

Second, the bad: Gigan sucks to begin with, and here the design is reminiscent of Feathers McGraw from The Wrong Trousers. Couldn't take it seriously, and was waiting for Gromit to tag-in to help out Godzilla.

If you are going to get together with your friends to make a comic short, please remember to be funny. That is kind of rule number one.

I have to admit, part of me was focusing on just how far up they would let the actual child actor go before they used some kind of double. Pretty far up, as it turns out, and it made me really uncomfortable. The film itself is an unhurried cry for help, both at the individual and the societal level. The individual actions are measured and methodical, but the action as a whole is incredibly desperate. So abandoned.

For much its running time, it skips between providing a forum for discussing race, racism, beauty ideals and capitalism and Rock riffing on his tired views of gender. It lost me in the final part, when he goes all in on making fun of women and celebrating misogyny. Giving Ice T the last word in a movie about black women and their hair said it all to me. Missed opportunity.
