Cuckoo 2024
Bit torn on this one. If taken it on face value its a decently modernized tribute to squirmy low budget euro horror of yesteryear. That's pretty much how I'll have it. Even if tillman singer had high concept aspirations hidden somewhere in the bushes, there's little funneling it all together. Perhaps I prefer genre flicks as this to be thematically fragmented to retain some braincells so let's just have that.

Rose Glass lets this love bleed for sure. I don't always know what I want from my buff and heedless 80s lesbian thrillers but I guess I do now.
This film lets us stride doozily in and out of the corporeality of its tribbing flesh. I felt moved by the brutish headrush of its romance. Very unapologetic at least for what it's worth, feels direct and clear eyed in execution for all it's genre debauchery. Though not consistently bold visually it punches quite a few rousing images. Love a love that runs wild, lawless and juiced tf up
