The costumes and the stenography are great, full of symbolism. Unfortunately, it is the only great thing about the movie (also Lilly Rose ofc) The action develops really slowly, the plot's pretty basic. I'd describe it as Victorian gothic novel located in Germany. If you want this kind of vive, just re-read Wuthering Heights

I genuinely consider Kieślowski as a great director, but here the most touchable thing for me was rats' fate. The relationships between main characters are quite unclear.

Interesting way of using a metaphor of falling Soviet Union and Kira's family falling apart. The movie speaks up some important topics, typical for coming of age dramas like relations with parents, looking for yourself, first love/sex experience.
The Soviet Union is depicted naturally, fortunately without any romanticism with its long queues for buying basic goods, absence of heating etc.
Do you love me? has a weird structure, which firstly seems to be pretty understandable, but the last 20-30 of action is to fast and a little bit delusional.
Still, it makes a good impression

Literally watched it for Julianne Moore, but the costume designer's work is incredible as well
