The Shop Around the Corner 1940
After watching the Philadelphia story I had to see more jimmy Stewart. This did not disappoint. I think Miss Novak was the original manic pixie dream girl. Also loved how this movie from 1940 approached psychology and mental wellbeing — like yes girl take that mental health day off from work you deserve it

Tracy is constantly blamed for things and seen as this untouchable, cold “goddess” just because she is independent, which made this an at times frustrating but interesting watch! Classic case of falling in love with the idea of someone and not taking the time to see them for who they really are. The ending had me yelling “what?! why??” at the tv because it goes against some of the themes (and my personal feminist sensibilities…) but maybe it’s meant to…
