Hugh Grant makes what would ordinarily be an insufferable character actually likable.
I’m biased, because I love anything to do with theology, but I felt like this was enjoyable as I really wasn’t sure what direction this movie was headed in. It was well paced and aesthetically pleasing (loved the mini house maze). Ending was as obscure as any A24 film and I loved it.
Also bonus half star for Hugh Grant doing a Jar Jar Binks impression AND singing Radiohead. Phenomenal.
Over 20 years later and this movie still leaves me snotty nosed and sobbing.
Showed this to my 6 year old for the first time today and he absolutely loved it (although he didn’t have the same emotional response as myself lol)
Animation still holds up and is amazing and storyline was chef’s kiss (somehow the fact that this was set during the Cold War completely went over my head as a child).

Herbert is one of the most unlikeable character I’ve ever had to watch.
Megan and Rufus deserved so much better 🙄
The intro was gorgeous. I could literally have that on my screen all day.
Gore & SFX were 10/10. But this is definitely one of those movies I need to see stay in the 80s and never be remade 😅

The concept felt original and it was a nice spin on the usual possession movies. Gave me Insidious vibes, but much more creepy and honestly overall scarier.
The ending was perfect.
