WOW immediately one of my favourite films of all time. Might be the only reason I watch the other Oscar contenders just to see if any film could deserve Best Picture more. Even more doubtful is that anyone could have out-acted Mikey Madison and perhaps even more impossible would be the idea that there's been a better original script than this one this year?

Wasn't necessarily a fan of how they wrapped up grief neatly with a bow at the end and buffed it of all its rough edges, but in the same breath if I'm gonna complain about a romcom either being too romantic or too cynical id rather it be the former. Renee Zellweger is just so likeable as Bridget n been with her for long enough now that I just do care, even if it's saccharine n glib at times. Romance…
Of all the romcoms/Hugh grant flicks I loved as a kid I feel like this is the only one I can still watch now without feeling hopeless or cynical. A bit formulaic sure and the ending is a bit of a flop but generally just love what it has to say about individualism v altruism and a very timely reminder for me that if I was rich enough to afford a haircut every other day that probably actually wouldn't make me happy
I loved the themes and visuals in this movie but ultimately a story based around a hero who is not only reluctant but actually never goes on their quest throughout the course of the film is... a little dull. Still heartbreaking and I imagine very impactful for a lot of people, but the plot (most of which is stories within a story) suffers as a result.
