I watched this movie immediately after finishing the book, which might be why I didn’t like it as much. The slow pacing killed the story— somehow reading the notoriously LONG book felt faster than watching this. I didn’t feel that the excitement of Tartt’s storytelling was translated in this adaptation. I agree with other reviews I’ve read— I think deviating from the book and treating the book as just a reference (not with reverence) would have made this movie feel less hollow and bloated.
