so incredible, truly one of the tells of a great filmmaker is the trust they have in themselves and the audience to be patient in the edit, an unexpected comparison but reminded me of aftersun in that way
some of the moments that struck me the most:
-james byrd footage
-the young woman in the south having an abortion
-kirsten's footage of her mother
-the two women cutting the tree together
-the daughter after her mom's suicide
-birth in nigeria
literally said ‘holy shit’ out loud when sarita came on screen, face card is lethal…don’t even get me started on denzel, i have said this before, a lot… but i truly mean this is the best a man has ever looked on screen ever
loved this so much, such a interesting look at community throughout and the colors in this…they don’t grade like this anymore and very much should
