They don’t make movies like this anymore! I love this simplicity and the beauty that oozes from these old movies.

Solid adaptation, consistent with the book and beautiful done. It brought out a few things from the book the 1996 movie excluded, which I loved. Mr. Knightley is one of if not my favorite male character in a romance novel and I was so unimpressed with him in this movie. Needless to say, what a let down. I will never get over the scene under the tree, nor understand what it’s doing in this movie. Despite all my reasons for not liking it, I like it as a faithful representation of such a great story.

Woah, I’m overwhelmed. Partly because the concept of this movie is something I have longed for, vocalized, and I finally got to see. I loved the pace of the dialogue. Nora’s marriage was vulnerable and their friendship felt safe, despite the question of how much she loved Arthur. It was so moving to see the connection of childhood, friendship, and love bring two people together throughout their lives, but to also see the restraint and conviction to plant themselves where they are. I have so many thoughts, I can’t wait to watch again.

wow, what an incredible movie. If I’m being honest, I think it is personally rare for me to find both a movie that I admire from a filmography standpoint and enjoy equally as much. Very often I find myself being able to appreciate good cinematography, but not always equally enjoying the movie and desiring to watch it again and again. This movie fits into both categories. It is captivating, creative, and introspective.
