Wicked 2024
Ariana went full Muppet and I appreciate it so much. I think I enjoyed this mostly for her and because I yearn for the Old Hollywood musical as much as she does. John M Chu was not the man for the job imo, but everyone really tried their best to save it.
Plus 1 star for a barn owl. Minus 1 star for them not using Paul F Tompkins to play the stepdad who looked like Comedy Bang Bang Andrew Lloyd Webber. Oh well.

This immediately feels like one of those educational films that MST3k riffs on before the actual feature, and I had no idea it's directed by the same guy who made the HALLOWEEN SAFETY video. I wish we got more horror flicks from this time with this aesthetic. It's like if an After School Special turned into a David Lynch film.

As good and fun and gossipy as everyone says but not enough people talking about all the reasons this feels like a modern remake of a film noir that never existed!!!!!!!
Hushed hallway convos, questioning of the establishment, the walls closing in on a man having a moral crisis, detective work in the shadows, dramatic lighting and lots of smoking!!!!!!! I could say more but I don't wanna spoil!
