The Brutalist 2024
I have a hard time reviewing movies accurately when they’re so gruesome and sad but The Brutalist left me with a sinking weird feeling- no doubt the directors goal. I loved the unfinished theme of the film. I was being edged the entire time… and so was Erzébet. Getting glimpses of the of the building but not the whole thing, the lives of Laszlo and everyone else before America being assumptions but never explained, the thing with Harry and Zsofia, and the ending scene with Harrison disappearing, all part of a story unfinished. Loved

This is excellent but I have problems with the fact that a story about the AIDS epidemic and the FDA’s awful response, was told by a straight white dude. Not a queer person. It gives boy in the striped pajamas. I know the whole point is that everyone was effected by HIV, but like telling a story about the small percent that it effected instead of the majority is kinda sus. And also the director said he would never hire…
