  This is a movie about resilience, about standing up and owning who you are, about taking accountability for your life, picking yourself up when you fall and never letting the bastards get you down. It’s also about a Jackalope with a fat ass who would absolutely commit credit card fraud.

  Yeah like, it’s not exactly doing anything new but it’s doing it well. Linklater-esque. Yearning and glowy, doesn’t get caught up in proving its 90s-ness by throwing in annoying pop cultural references. Writing fuck on a hot dog in ketchup and charging extra for it is extremely funny.

  Okay so here’s the thing: obviously this movie is incredible. 

  Here’s the other thing: the choc tops at the Astor are dog shit — The cone has the consistency of cardboard and the cream is icy and unforgiving. Frozen confectionary is important to me.

  Oh man this thing defies a star rating just like it defies any kind of sense or logic. I really can’t believe what I just watched. I laughed, I groaned, I muttered “what the fuck” under my breath too many times to count. The part where the lights came up slightly for a cinema employee to mime one line of off screen dialogue was so unbelievably self indulgent and disruptive to the storytelling. Truly the most bizarre cinematic experience I have ever taken part in and I’m so thankful for it.
