  spent the first half an hour praying it was all satire. this is so fucking torturous to watch that we had to watch it in like 4 bits jesus christ how do people enjoy this 🥲 If you’re going to make self-indulgent wank at least make it fun 

  also finding out the ugly ass wigs were not in fact an accident and actually completely thought out to make the vampires look more wild or something is the cherry on top, how are you going to make the executive decision to make your own film look cheap

  i enjoyed this more than french dispatch but it’s still not good. 

  things i liked:
  -the props, costumes and miniatures.
  -writing of dialogue and funny moments (but not as a whole narrative if there was one)
  -the colour of it all and the fun bits like the alien song, made me laugh and made me happy

  things that i didn’t: 
  -what the fuck was going on bruv, the flip between b&w stuff and the film was just jarring most of the time 
  -very style over substance
  -all the a-list actors just because wes anderson film i guess??? just felt like one big nepo orgy

  I feel really torn with this one, i definitely feel like it’s not all that everyone is saying about it but there are great things. the cinematography was nice in parts, very over the top in others. the use of music is cool.
  the acting was great but the characters were unlikable. i get that the character of Freddy is meant to be chaotic and she makes bad self sabotaging decisions because of how she is but she’s also just…
