amazing chemistry between the main characters, dialogue that had me literally laughing out loud, and gorgeous wide city shots with artistic excellence
also, the commentary on the unspoken obligation of black people to be palatable to white people is well done, but perhaps doesn’t go as hard as it could.
also also, Justice Smith’s monologue of racial revelation and ownership rivals America Ferrera’s monologue in Barbie. 10/10.
this documentary is so artfully crafted, and is such a powerful example of what creation and storytelling - in all of its forms - can be like and look like. this was great for the thinker in me, the musician in me, and the lover in me. I love the underlying commentary on how to navigate the extremes of life.

I love a “based on a true story” moment. didn’t cry as much as twitter told me I would, but still very sad, yet inspiring. no spoilers, but I’d k*ll myself a few days in, tbh. good for them for living, though.
