Woah
The choice to center this on the quietest character, against a rural and disintegrating backdrop, with the most ethereal music ever is so key to the success of the movie
It allows the violent teenage angst and depression and bullying and death and horrors to exist in a way that doesn’t discredit or diminish or infantilize them. It’s a coming of age and it’s raw (with brilliant camcorder footage use) and it hurts no matter your stage in life.…

Eraserhead 1977
Electricity and light and ideas and a nightmare and questions and no answers and terrible, howling wind and gushing blood and stark light and a sweaty night and a terrible neighbor and heaven and a checkerboard stage and never any mail and all those feelings of a sickness that will never go away but does. The timelessness of a dark dream in 90 minutes. Perhaps the reality of having a kid. I love David Lynch

Babygirl 2024
Like yes… exciting idea… but I think poorly executed? All about putting “everything at stake” and then nothing was ever really at stake. The ending was a bore with all tensions fizzling to naught. Also the first 15 mins feels like a movie where all budget was given to the actors - weird music choices and wandering cinematography (gets better later).
