    choose life

trainspotting is deeply personal. the experience of addiction is pure unrivaled insanity. all addicts, whether it be alcohol, heroin, cannabis, pills, kratom, or hash, live the same experience. the same way of life. no matter how far down the scale any of us have gone, or experience remains the same in an overarching sense. the direction, the trajectory of our lives remain the same. all lines arc towards jails, institutions, or death.

sticking your hand in a disgusting toilet simply…

    Apocalypse Now

    ★★★★★

in everything apocalypse now sets out to do, it achieves with flying colors.

francis ford coppola said “my film is not about vietnam. it is vietnam” and after watching it i could not agree more. the film serves not just as an all encompassing picture of the vietnam war, but as a picture of the soldier, and the war the soldier fights in, and the place the war is fought in.

beautifully directed, masterfully acted, and brilliantly strung together by a genius director despite the many many many hardships that occurred during the production of the movie.

    The Substance

    ★★★

the substance has an admittedly interesting premise, with masterfully done special effects, but the editing of the film might as well give you a youtube commentary level summary of the events every 10 minutes. the massively self-indulgent ending destroys any and all of the significance and symbolism of the events that precede it.
