the power of friendship: “i don’t believe what you believe, but i know you believe it”.
i was SO scared since they named schizophrenia that this would turn out to be another insensitive movie which villainizes mental illness.
from my experience the way the friend handled the other’s psychosis was really well done in that he didn’t minimize his delusions while still grounding him in reality (humming the song, getting rid of weapons, ensuring him that he was in control)
this is a horror movie not because the protagonist’s delusions make him inherently dangerous, but because living with what he has is terrifying in itself.
