initially, the pacing felt excruciating slow, but that doesn’t detract from the lure of the film at all - quite the opposite, in fact. this film is so meditative.
green’s portrayal of family life through such an intimate light is fuelled with warmth at first, but by the hour mark, the warmth wanes and renders each dynamic in an unforgiving manner. though that feeling returns with the final shot, it’s tinged with something awfully bitter and sobering.
