  beautifully composed, lit, scored (VERY glad i saw this in dolby atmos) and intensely committed by lily rose depp and bill skarsgard. the problem is there’s little for them to commit TO. for example, herzog shot his opening sequence at the mummies of guanajuato museum with the mummified bodies of the victims of a cholera epidemic on display. murnau’s 1922 film evokes parallels of his post-war period and contagion: the transmissible sicknesses associated with rats in trench warfare. we’re four years…
