Did NOT live up to the book at all.
I’m not omitting the great lead performances and dynamic editing. But many plot lines from the book were skipped through, and regrettably so.
I wish we had gotten less John Shaughnessy, less Jack Connerman (that whole scene at the bar was unnecessary), and instead more Molly Arrington, Naomi Chance and Tom Goodman.
In the book, Molly goes through a whole weeks-long process with Aaron, and the film dumbs it down into…
“Because I'm a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot?”
this film amazed me and terrified me and awed me all at the same time.
the level of accuracy of what the future would look like that stanley kubrick had when making this film is just incredible. at every single new thing that appeared my jaw dropped. the smallest details like the buttons, the chairs, the screens... i could go on.
the story is just so intelligent and intricate it draws the mind and senses into the experience.
