My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2002
I just love this movie idk what to say. It hits that perfect balance between being nostalgic and genuinely relatable for me! Being a daughter of immigrant parents there are so many quirks and little things that this movie just gets. Some bits don’t land as hard as others, but it is genuinely hilarious. La La Land 2016
This was a different viewing experience to me than most! My mom and I went to Eastman theatre and saw a live orchestra play alongside the movie! It was STUNNING! Absolutely gorgeous cinematography, exceptional motifs, set design, acting, all of it was beautiful. Did I sob horrifically?? Fucking of course I did!
Highlight of the experience, during intermission my mom almost fell down the stairs and ALMOST took out a lil old lady. Best part, she caught herself, immediately turned around and goes “why didn’t you catch me?!” Excuse me?????

Bring It On: All or Nothing 2006
when your boyfriend has two sisters who controlled the remote, turns out it makes you an expert on this movie. This man could out-crump me any day. Some of the jokes aged like milk (racism, misogyny, and fatphobia wise) BUT it wasn’t as ‘white-savior’-ey as I thought they’d make it. Three stars bc 1) solange is a cheer captain 2) it’s all for Rihanna 3) something about cheerleader movies just makes me giddy
