A proof that hero's journey as a tool to tell a story is still popular and effective. Don't be deceived by it being a good entry-level film to the genre, as it is one of the bests I've ever seen of it's kind.

The Graduate 1967
Good from start to finish. I don't know why but Dustin Hoffman's portrayal of Benjamin reminded me of Holden Caulfield. I'd like to entertain the idea that eveything about the story is chaotic for all of the characters, but I see it as Ben's view of his environment and the people involved in his life, fueled by his angst.
I remember wishing for the movie to end at the scene where Ben and Elaine hops on a bus while the camera shows the back of it distancing away. It's the perfect ending for me and I got what I wanted.

Do the Right Thing 1989
The events leading up to the climax could've been shorter but overall great film
