Catch-22 1970
Books are so beautiful. Watching this really made me feel that. I loved this movie before I had ever read the book, and now, after having read it, the movie is different. I like the book more, but I respect the attempt to translate the story to a different audience. Transposing material like this is a fascinating and nearly entirely disappointing process that is extremely hard to yield any satisfying result just about all the time.
I'm glad it was made, I wouldn't have read the book otherwise. But having read the book, the movie is worse.
