My Own Private Idaho 1991
According to online trivia, there were three original plots that Van Sant merged to create the final movie. I would have greatly preferred an entire movie about ONE of those--either the "two street hustlers go on a quest to find one's long-lost mom" OR rentboy Henry IV. As it stands, this movie is neurotic, confusing, and ultimately unsatisfying despite interesting premises and characters as well as the occasional great scene (talking magazine covers, lampshade cabaret, etc.).
