  A quiet, unflinching gaze at the banality of evil.  The soundscape of the film is harrowing and its guttural gasps all too well express the chilling emptiness in the bowels of these characters. These are people utterly and completely devoid of empathy. The gardens, the blooms, the family, the house, the music, the guilded halls. All vanity. Never have I felt more strongly of witnessing people revel in the forms of Beauty but utterly bereft of the essence of her being. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
