    I love a great first-gen immigrant story with lots of nature-y symbolism, but the pacing of the plot was a bit disappointing for me. The first 75% of the movie was dedicated to showing the same family/society dynamic in 20 different ways. Lots of this could have been cut out in favor of progressing the plot or character development.     Great directing, delicate use of color to convey emotion (the title in Chinese has a double meaning for “color, ring”). Some of the scenes were just immaculately done, especially the ending, while others could have been shortened.
