Gunbuster 1988
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
(gqx homework, part 2) ok many thoughts. first off i need to acknowledge how fucking crazy it would be for two mythic girlfriends of legend who saved humanity to return after 12k+ years. and i think that's kind of the point! it's a really weird 80's pop sci-fi mecha where piloting is just a jazzercise routine and your rival-turned-friend is a redhead soviet pilot named jung freud, but it evolves into a story really concerned about personal and social legends…

The durational moments help bring this alive while concretizing this into real people, inscribing…

In Vitro 2019
“We were all raised on someone else’s nostalgia. Our memories are mixed in with the experiences of others.” // “We will be archives for someone else later to make sense of.”
Two separate quotes from this short. This gave me chills! Not exactly 100% my speed but really beautifully written and carefully done, a very very meditative brand of spec fiction / sci-fi (?).
